Reason for nomination: My nomination for Animal Welfare Hero is Michelle Shultz. Michelle has dedicated a lifetime of service to Animal Welfare. During the last twenty-five years of service to Lowndes County, Michelle has acted as a volunteer, a shelter attendant, and an Animal Welfare Officer. She has functioned as a first responder for hundreds of animal cruelty case victims. Everything from extreme starvation and neglect, to a burn case victim intentionally set on fire. She nurses them back to health and coordinates their rescues. Presently she volunteers her time and efforts towards ending pet overpopulation at the regional low cost spay neuter clinics. Her tireless efforts include coordination and transport of local feral cats to both clinics as well as preparing the cats for surgery and recovery. Michelle Shultz characterizes through her resolute actions, what it is to be an ANIMAL WELFARE HERO.
