Grab a camera or cell phone and capture your rescue pet’s most captivating holiday-themed photograph! Celebrate rescue pets and the happiest season by entering the Second Annual National Happy Holidays! Rescue Pets Photo Contest.
The spirit of this event is Photography with Little Editing and the Celebration of Animal Welfare. This event intends to entertain photographers using cell phones, mobile phones or simple cameras. This year, two categories are available in which a person can enter:
Amateur Photographer Category: Eligible to win a designated first-, second-, or third-place monetary award, a People’s Choice Award and/or one of several Honorable Mention statuses.
Professional Photographer Category: Eligible to win a designated first-, second-, or third-place non-monetary award, a People’s Choice Award and/or one of several Honorable Mention statuses. The winner in this category will be featured in one or more press release(s) and on the foundation’s website as a means of promoting your business.
*All winners will receive a displayable Award Certificate.
To participate in this competition, you must adhere to the honor code regarding the stated Rules and Guidelines.
We invite pet parents to submit no more than two (2) photographs of one or more rescue pets. Each entrant may submit two color photographs. Only one photo is eligible to win a major prize. Entrants who submit more pictures than specified will be disqualified.
Contest entries will be accepted from Tuesday, November 1, 2022, until Tuesday, December 15, 2022, at noon EST. To qualify, photos must be taken during contest dates. No previous entries or late entries will be accepted.
No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
Rescue pets that are eligible for entry into the national, Happy Holidays! Rescue Pets Photo Contest are animals adopted from an animal shelter, animal rescue organization, or other rescue situations: homeless, abandoned, or rescued from the streets. Fosters may enter their rescue pets too! Any rescued animal may be entered, and more than one animal can be shown in the photo. The photo can also include one or more people with the animal(s). Entries must include the name of each animal and name(s) of each person in the pictures. Owners are asked to provide contact information for the nonprofit animal shelter or rescue organization for each animal in a photo that was a foster or adopted. (if applicable) or an explanation about how you rescued your pet.

The website also includes extensive information and ways to donate, sponsor, foster, adopt, and support the foundation’s work to save homeless animals. The foundation is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization, and all donations are tax-deductible.
Contest Eligibility:
Internet access, phone number, and email address are required for participation.
This contest is subject to all federal, state, municipal, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.
This national contest is open to legal United States residents at least eighteen (18) years old and is open to all photographers who have rescued, fostered or saved a pet from an unwanted situation. Employees, immediate family, or household members of The Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc., or its affiliated entities are not eligible to enter.
Contest Period:
The contest begins on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, and ends on Thursday , December 15, 2022, at noon EST.

The Happy Holidays! Rescue Pets Photo Contest prize winners will be announced on the website www.BurtonFletcherFoundation.org.
Participation in the Contest signifies unreserved acceptance of these rules and the sponsor’s choices, which are final and binding. The ability to win and receive a prize is based on meeting all contest requirements.
Entry Submission:
Each participant may submit up to two (2) color images of one or more rescued pets. Only one photo can win a reward. Participants who submit an excessive number of images will be ineligible to win.
All submissions become the property of The Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc. and are neither acknowledged nor returned. Using any automated system or numerous accounts is forbidden and will result in disqualification. The sponsor is not liable for lost or late submissions, and incomplete submissions may be dismissed.
Photo Judging Criteria:
The photographs must be high-resolution digital photographs. No copies will be accepted. Photos must be previously unpublished to be submitted. Participants may only submit images they took themselves.
Photos submitted must depict the Happy Holidays! Rescue Pets Photo Contest theme.
The theme of the contest portrayed (35 percent)
Creativeness (25 percent)
Photo quality (25 percent)
How photo was taken (15 percent)
It is against the rules to employ digital backgrounds or any other form of artificial editing to remove, alter, or create fake objects or backdrops. Submitting any photos that have been improved using Adobe Photoshop or photo altering software beyond the original cameras enhancements will result in exclusion from this competition and any future competitions sponsored by the Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc.
The background and props must be present in the photograph at the time the photo is taken and must not have been digitally edited utilizing outside apps or software. Basic camera or phone enhancements are acceptable photo enrichments allowable before submission.
Photos submitted cannot be offensive or contain offensive, obscene, sexual, abusive, or discriminatory material. They may not portray or promote damage against people animals, or any other content inconsistent with the site’s theme and spirit.
Entrants must obtain permission from the owner of any animals (if applicable) and every person in the submitted photo or photos to use their name and likeness. If requested, proof of consent must be available.
Participants found to have violated the contest rules may be disqualified subject to discretion. Burton Fletcher, as president and executive director of the Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc., and in this and all contests is the final arbiter. His decisions are not subject to appeal.
Winner Selection:
After the contest ends on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at noon EST, entries will be judged by an independent panel and Burton Fletcher. Burton Fletcher, the judges, the foundation’s directors, and the Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc. have complete discretion over whether to grant the awards above. Burton Fletcher shall make the final determination regarding all awards and prizes.
AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER WINNER(S) and NOTIFICATION:
Prize winners will be notified by email at the entry form’s email address. If a prize winner cannot be contacted within five (5) days after the date of the first contact attempt, or the prize is returned as undeliverable by mail, the prize is forfeited. The sponsor reserves the right to award the prize to another entrant.
WINNERS: HALF OF THE PRIZE MONEY FOR EACH AWARD WILL BE PAID TO THE NONPROFIT ANIMAL RESCUE ORGANIZATION OF THE WINNER’S CHOICE.

Discretionary Honorable Mention Awards
There is a limit of one (1) first, second, or third-place prize per person.
There are $600 in prizes for both the amateur and the professional categories.
First place is $300.00, Second Place is $200, and Third Place is $100. There is an additional $100.00 for the People’s Choice Award. All monies go to 501(c)(3) organizations.
All prize winners are responsible for all taxes and fees associated with prize receipt.
PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER WINNER(S) and NOTIFICATION:
Winners in this category will be eligible to receive non-monetary awards as indicated below. Winners will be notified by email at the entry form’s email address. If a winner cannot be contacted within five (5) days after the date of the first contact attempt, or the award is returned as undeliverable by mail, the award is forfeited.

The sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the contest if necessary or disqualify any individual who violates contest rules.
Release & Limitations of Liability:
By participating in the contest, entrants agree to release and hold the sponsor and affiliated entities harmless and free from any claim arising from participation.
Disputes:
Any claims regarding the validity or enforceability of the contest rules, rights, and obligations of entrants or the sponsor shall be governed in Valdosta, Georgia, and by the State of Georgia and U.S. Federal Laws.
Collection & Use of Personal Information:
Entry into the Contest constitutes agreement to the sponsor’s collection, use, and disclosure of the entrant’s personal information. Entrants also agree that the sponsor may use their entry form personal data for marketing and publicity in any manner the host and sponsor may choose.
