I am beyond grateful to The Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc. I founded the Steadfast Wildlife Rescue in 2020 to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured and orphaned wildlife that would otherwise be unable to survive. As one of the few licensed wildlife rehabilitators in our area, I receive non-stop calls for help with wildlife emergencies, leaving our nonprofit’s limited funds depleted. Burton is a blessing to wildlife and many domestic animals in rescues, rehabilitation, and sanctuaries. Thank you, Burton, and to the Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc. for donating toward our efforts to save lives and for continuing to be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

The Leadership Courage Award Brought Extensive Publicity to Animal Rescue

I am Susan Jamerson, Stitches for Mitchell County Vice President. Along with my board of directors, I want to thank Burton Fletcher and the Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc. for their work in saving homeless animals in South Georgia. I also want to thank them for the significant impact on our little shelter in Camilla, Georgia.

Since I met Burton and won the Leadership Courage Award, we have received tremendous publicity, and fantastic things have happened. Numerous people called, texted, or inquired about our animals available for foster or adoption. As a direct result of that experience, I have also met many people, now friends, who have shared valuable tips and information to help our organization.

Burton cares so much about networking to help all animal rescue organizations succeed that he called and convinced me that we should participate in the contest. He was right! Because of the extensive publicity, our recognition in the community expanded to many more people who may decide to spay, neuter, rescue, foster, or adopt.

It is so nice to know that there is someone else who cares as much as we do about the plight of unwanted animals in South Georgia. I cannot thank Burton enough for his friendship and the support, invaluable publicity, and recognition by the Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc. I am so thankful for all the animals that have found homes because we met! God bless you all!

Leadership Courage Award 2022 Winner

We are grateful to the Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc. for recognizing our organization, Stitches for Mitchell County, Inc. While we are young in this business of animal welfare, I am extremely proud of what our organization has accomplished. We are humbled to be considered in the league of people who were also in the Animal Welfare Heroes 2022 Contest. These people go above and beyond to change animal welfare in our state. Again, on behalf of my staff and our supporters, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your foundation has had a significant impact on Animal Rescue in South Georgia. Please continue to do the work you so apparently love to do, and we will continue to have you in our prayers as you do your work!

I have had a business relationship with Burton Fletcher for many years, and he is a forthright and fair individual who cares deeply for animals. I decided to donate to the Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc. in 2021-2022 because I support his foundation’s goals. Still, I was pleasantly surprised to learn about my business’s publicity. I have donated to charities before and usually receive thanks and perhaps a mention in print. The foundation publicized my law firm’s sponsorship on their website, www.BurtonFletcherFoundation.org, on Facebook, to the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce, et cetera, and through email communications. I recommend this charitable foundation, both for their charitable deeds in the community and how they support their sponsors.

Both Burton Fletcher and I attend Crossroads Baptist Church in Valdosta. When he approached me about sponsoring the Animal Welfare Heroes 2022 Contest, hosted by the Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc., I thought it was good to donate to animals in need. To my pleasant surprise, my sponsorship was listed in numerous articles on the foundation’s website, www.BurtonFletcherFoundation.org, Facebook, in the Valdosta Daily Times, the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce, the Tifton Gazette, and email communications to Lowndes County government officials; I never thought I would gain this much publicity by sponsoring an event with the Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc. I want to thank Burton Fletcher for publicizing my sponsorship. A donation to the Burton Fletcher Foundation for Animals, Inc. is a wise investment!

You’re amazing, Burton Fletcher. You’ve gone from the seed of an idea to its implementation in record time. Congrats!
