We are excited to announce that Best Friends programs in New York and Atlanta have combined forces to create a new collaborative East Coast corridor solution to lifesaving. This collaboration has been supporting lifesaving work through COVID-19, and will grow to support lifesaving programs all along the East Coast. To learn more about this change focused on sustained lifesaving impact, please read Julie Castle’s blog post.
Best Friends works collaboratively with Atlanta-area shelters, animal welfare organizations and individuals to save the lives of pets in shelters in the region and all across the country. Join this lifesaving work today.

Adopting a Pet
At this time, all of our animals are currently residing in foster homes. Adoptions will take place remotely through an online meet & greet request form and video-conference meet-and-greets.*
To adopt a new pet:
• Search our available pets
• Complete the meet & greet request specifying the particular pet you are interested in meeting.
• An adoption counselor will contact you directly to schedule a virtual meet-and-greet. Please note, meet & greet requests are reviewed on a first-come-first-served system.
• Following the virtual meet-and-greet, the adoption can be finalized and arrangements will be made for you to officially pickup your new best friend!
*We can only facilitate in-person meet and greets for adult dogs if requested or necessary.
Adoption Prices:
Adult Dogs – $50
Puppies – $100
Adult Cats – $25
Kittens – $50
If you adopt a pair of kittens or cats, you only pay one adoption fee!

Volunteer Opportunities
Best Friends Lifesaving Dog and Cat Transport Program
Best Friends in Atlanta works collaboratively with animal shelters across Georgia and the Southeast to save the lives of homeless dogs and cats by transporting them north to increase their adoption opportunities. This program fills a critical role in reducing shelter overpopulation in the Southeast and is an extension of our work being done in Atlanta and the Southeast region. This program is growing and has many opportunities to get involved, including temporary fostering of transport animals, vehicle set up, and driving assistance. For more information, please email transportatl@bestfriends.org or visit our volunteer page.

The Community Cat Program has transitioned to Good Mews Animal Foundation. Please contact them for help with TNR or cat-related issues in Cobb County. They can be reached at ccp@goodmews.org or 770-262-0514.
